BONUS TIP FOR COLD AND FLU REMEDIES

Epsom Salts Bath Time

This is my personal favourite of the cold and flu remedies. When I make this happen, it gives me the opportunity to take time out and create my own spa environment with reflection and relaxation time. If I have a cold or the flu it will also nourish it.

If you're presently trying to recover from a cold or the flu here's why you must find the time to action this.

Why Epsom Salts?
Many of us are deficient in magnesium. Magnesium is a body regulator of over 325 enzymes and plays an important role in supporting muscle control, energy production, electrical impulses and eliminating harmful toxins from the body. We need it!

Also known scientifically as hydrated magnesium sulphate, Epsom Salts contain magnesium plus sulphates (integral in the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and proteins that line the digestive tract walls and help to eliminate environmental contaminates and medicines from the body). They are great for when you're on the mend from a cold or the flu and here's why.

When soaking in an Epsom Salt bath, research has shown that the body absorbs more magnesium through the skin than when ingested as a supplement.  Factors like a person's diet, any drugs present, medical conditions and a person's stomach acid chemistry make it very challenging for magnesium to be easily absorbed internally.

This is exactly why you need to indulge in a warm or hot Epsom Salts Bath so that you're able to replenish your magnesium levels.

When you have a cold or the flu, magnesium helps to reduce inflammation to relieve muscle pains. This is great for headaches, achy muscles and blocked noses.

Plus it is a natural stress reliever, so if either a cold or the flu is adding to your everyday life loads then soaking in an Epsom Salts bath is definitely going to help you see the rainbow after the rain. You never know, if you look hard enough you might even find a pot of gold there as well (symbolic of course).

Try adding some lavender or ylang ylang essential oil drops into the bath as it's running to heighten your relaxation experience.

Epsom Salts can be bought at any good pharmacy, health store, yoga studio or supermarket.
